PASSIVE VOICE
DEFINITION :
the passive voice is used when the person or the thing affected by the main verb becomes the focus. The passive is often used when the person or thing doing the verb is not important, unknown, or obvious.
FUNCTIONAL:
- To describe processes,
- To convey a more objective tone in news reports,
- Provide an introduction in activities more academic and other more formal settings – letters, reports, essays and lectures.
Formula:
Subject + to be (is, am, are) + V3
- Present Simple : A Bicycle is bought by Dian
- Past Simple : A Bicycle was bought by Dian
- Futur Simple : A Bicycle will be bought by Dian
- Present Continuous : A Bicycle is being bought by Dian
- Past Continuous : A Bicycle was being bought by Dian
- Going to : A Bicycle is going to bought by Dian
- Present Perfect : A Bicycle has been bought by Dian
- Past Perfect : A Bicycle had been bought by Dian
- Would always : A Bicycle would always be bought by Dian
