Background and composition

In various interviews, the band members and co-writers describe differing aspects of the composition and overall meaning of the song. The song is in D major and has a tempo of 100 beats per minute. Long-time writer and producer for the band, Julian Bunetta described the writing process as 'difficult' due to the writing occurring whilst the members travelled from country to country during their 2015  on the road again Tour^] Bunetta called the single "a jam" and stated that he plays it in his car frequently. on the road again

The meaning 

The song Perfect tells the story of a man who likes a woman, where the woman is his friend since childhood. He had feelings for him until he grew up, although now he is still a friend.

Until the time when he was determined, and prepared to express his feelings to the woman. This is where he knows everything, where the woman he has loved since childhood turns out to have the same feeling for him.

The meaning of this Perfect song is that the woman also fell in love with him, but because in childhood they both did not understand what love was, the woman could only be silent and harbored it, so did the man.

When she was an adult, actually the woman was waiting for the expression of her feelings from her husband and sure enough, it came true. The two of them then determined to start upholding their commitment, namely being faithful to each other in living love, and living together forever.

Background 

According to Puth, the song came about during a songwriting camp that his record label set up. Puth was paired with a team and they failed to come up with a song in a week, disappointing the label, until DJ FRANK E, who had previously worked with Puth on " See You Again, introduced him to "One Call Away" as a song idea. Puth stated that he "absolutely" needed to sing the song, despite having not written the chorus, and that he wrote the song's bridge in addition to "a couple of lines". Charlie told iHeart: ‘One Call Away’ is about anybody who is in love with somebody, and doesn’t get to see that person every single day. That’s the e-cards that people used to send to you over email. I feel like people use them more as memes now. Well, this is your musical meme for not seeing a person that you love so dearly for a really, really long time.

The meaning

This song tells the story of a man's loyalty to his girlfriend. From the title alone, we can hear what and how he tried to meet his girlfriend even though it was only one call. So wherever he is, if he is called or called once he immediately goes to his girlfriend and asks what he wants.

He realizes that even though he is not Superman, he will try to come as soon as possible to meet the person he loves the most. He also told his girlfriend not to hesitate to call if he needed help. Even just being a friend to the story, he will come to accompany and keep his girlfriend from being alone. This is what he continues to do in order to prove how much he loves the person he loves the most.
